Wates has been selected by Sevenoaks District Council as the preferred development partner to deliver the £138 million (US$183 million) regeneration of land east of Sevenoaks High Street in Sevenoaks, Kent, transforming the town centre with new leisure, cultural, residential, and public realm facilities.
The Land East of Sevenoaks High Street development is a major regeneration initiative led by Sevenoaks District Council in Kent to create a vibrant, sustainable, and well-connected town centre for residents, businesses, and visitors. The scheme will feature a range of new community amenities, including a modern leisure centre, a cultural hub, a new market hall, upgraded public transport facilities, enhanced green public spaces, and energy-efficient homes to support the area's future growth and development.
Wates will collaborate with Sevenoaks District Council to prepare the initial design proposals before commencing an extensive public consultation process. Residents, local businesses, and other stakeholders will be invited to provide feedback and help refine the plans ahead of the submission of a planning application, which is expected in late 2027. Subject to securing planning consent, construction is scheduled to begin in 2028.
