Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway (ACWR), in partnership with Montgomery County Economic Development and supported by state and regional grants, has opened the first phase of the 30-acre Candor Logistics Park in Candor, North Carolina, USA.

Candor Logistics Park is a 30-acre transloading and distribution facility with capacity for more than 100 rail cars. The site provides dedicated space and equipment for a range of transloading activities and ground storage requirements, supported by certified weighing scales, water infrastructure, perimeter fencing, lighting, security cameras and automated gate access. The facility is designed to handle a variety of commodities, including fuels, food-grade goods, plastic resins and dry bulk materials such as cement and lime. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to divert more than 10,000 long-haul trucks from roads each year, helping lower road maintenance costs for taxpayers while reducing transportation-related emissions.

Candor Logistics Park also includes two adjoining sites designated for industrial development, ranging from 11 to 20 acres each. The pad-ready, graded properties are suited for manufacturers and distributors seeking direct rail access to the national network and can accommodate building footprints of approximately 100,000 to 300,000 sq ft. The sites are intended to attract new businesses and companies relocating their operations, with a combined target investment of around US$50 million.

The Candor Logistics Park was developed through a partnership between ACWR and Montgomery County Economic Development, with additional support from grants provided by the North Carolina Southeast Partnership and North Carolina Railroad. ACWR also obtained several grants from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) through the SIAP and FRDP programs to support the project’s development. Located less than a mile from Interstate 74, the park combines rail connectivity with pad-ready industrial sites, creating opportunities for new industries and supporting continued economic growth in the region. Its central North Carolina location provides convenient access to Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, as well as surrounding markets. Through ACWR’s interchanges with Norfolk Southern in Charlotte and CSX Transportation in Aberdeen, customers can also connect to the broader national rail network.
