ACCIONA, together with its consortium partners ACS Group and Meridiam, has begun construction of the SR 400 Express Lanes project in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The SR 400 Express Lanes project involves the design, construction, financing, and 55-year operation of a major new express lane corridor in Atlanta. With an estimated investment of around US$10.8 billion (€9.8 billion), the scheme will introduce optional, dynamically priced express lanes in both directions along a 16-mile stretch from the North Springs MARTA Station to north of McFarland Parkway.
Once completed, the project is expected to enhance travel time reliability, expand road capacity, and provide motorists with the option to avoid congestion via managed lanes. It will also support public transport by enabling toll-free access for MARTA’s planned bus rapid transit (BRT) services, while strengthening regional connectivity through integration with existing and future managed lane networks across the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Early construction activities will include site mobilization, survey and geotechnical work, utility coordination, clearing and grading operations, maintenance of traffic installations, and foundational work for structures and retaining systems.
