The Government of Change, through the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), has replaced more than 14.8 km of rails on the Bogotá-Belencito railway corridor as part of its strategy to restore the country's railway infrastructure.
Throughout the construction process, railway operations will proceed without disruption, with carefully planned work schedules to ensure seamless movement of freight, passenger, and maintenance trains. The project, backed by a COP 156.455 billion (USD 40 million) investment and slated for completion within 10 months, focuses on modernizing and strengthening the corridor’s superstructure by replacing rails, clips, and welding kits. The necessary materials, already imported, are being assembled alongside sleepers for installation in the initial phase spanning the Tuta to Belencito section. This project will reduce the time and costs associated with freight transportation, thus benefiting local businesses and producers.
