The General Directorate of Concessions (DGC) of the Ministry of Public Works announced that the deadline for submitting bids for the Route 5 Chacao-Chonchi Section project in the Los Lagos Region will be extended.
This project involves an estimated investment of USD 594 million (UF 15,300,000). The revised schedule is intended to encourage the participation of companies that have already expressed interest in the initiative and ensure the successful award of this key project for the connectivity and development of Chiloé Island. The project, which will continue Route 5 in the southern region and complement the Chacao Bridge, includes the construction, maintenance, and operation of 126 km between Chacao and Chonchi, most of which will be dual carriageways. The new concession also includes road safety projects, footbridges, service areas, and ecological crossings to protect native wildlife.
The initiative will improve travel times, increase road safety, promote tourism and productive development in Chiloé, and provide a structural response to the connectivity needs of more than 100,000 residents of the municipalities benefiting from the road's improvement and modernization.
Originally, the Reception of Technical and Economic Bids was scheduled for April 30, 2025, and the Opening of Economic Bids for May 28, 2025. In response to the request of companies interested in participating in the bidding process for the Route 5 Chacao–Chonchi Section, the new dates for the reception of bids and the economic opening were established as June 4 and July 2, 2025, respectively.
