The General Directorate of Public Works Concessions published the call for bids for the Second Concession of Route 57 Santiago – Colina – Los Andes. The project, which involves an investment of USD 946.2 million and a term of 588 months, will modernize and improve the safety standards of approximately 116 km, connecting the Valparaíso and Santiago regions.
The project is located in the Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions, encompassing the municipalities of Quilicura and Huechuraba in the province of Santiago; Colina and Tiltil in the province of Chacabuco; and Rinconada, Calle Larga, and Los Andes in the province of Los Andes. Its total length reaches approximately 116.1 km, and includes Route 57 (79.8 km), Route G-71 (16.7 km), a new 9.3 km section that will directly connect Route 57 with Route 5, and a new 4.6 km connection in the vicinity of the Los Andes Land Port, which will address the logistical needs of this area. Key works included in the Second Concession of Route 57 are the expansion to three lanes on the first 24 km section, improved cross-connectivity, especially within the metropolitan urban area, new service roads and the improvement and continuity of existing ones, new bridges, bike paths, pedestrian overpasses with bus stops, a new tunnel adjacent to the existing Chacabuco Tunnel, an upgrade of the existing tunnel, a new general services area in Los Andes, and a plaza in Huechuraba. Additionally, the project includes improvements to existing interchanges and bridges, a planned new connection to Route 5, upgrades to Route G-71, the construction of the new Los Andes Oriente Route, and the installation of electronic toll collection gantries. The new concession includes the improvement, construction, maintenance and operation of both the pre-existing works and the new works that comprise the concession.
The bidding process continues with the receipt of technical and economic bids on July 21, 2026, and the opening of the economic bids will take place on August 18, 2026. This will allow the project to be awarded during the fourth quarter of 2026. According to this timeline, the start of the new works would be in 2031 and operations would begin in 2034. It should be noted that the current concession ends on January 8, 2027.
