Cinven has closed its second Strategic Opportunities Fund (SF2) at €2.3 billion (US$2.66 billion), providing the private equity firm with capital to pursue investments in established, high-quality businesses. The fund is aimed at opportunities where Cinven believes it can apply its investment expertise and operational capabilities to generate additional value.

The fund is focused on mid-market companies in Europe, particularly businesses operating in financial services, business services, and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT). Its strategy is to make investments where Cinven can take a hands-on approach and support companies with growth and strategic initiatives.

The fundraise strengthens Cinven’s ability to pursue opportunities outside its traditional large-cap buyout strategy. It gives the firm a dedicated pool of capital to target businesses that may require a different investment approach but can still benefit from Cinven’s sector expertise, international network and value-creation capabilities.
