Poland’s Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), the company responsible for delivering the Port Polska project, has shortlisted five bidders for the construction of a 14.3-kilometre section of the Warsaw–Łódź high-speed rail line, between Airport Junction and Bolimów Junction.
The bidders include consortia of STRABAG and TYM-BUD; TORPOL, MIRBUD and KOBYLARNIA; PORR and Trakcja; INTERCOR, NDI and NDI SOPOT; as well as BUDIMEX. The selected contractor will be responsible for detailed design and construction of the 14.3-km HSR section, which will be designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h. The project includes 55 engineering structures, including road and railway bridges, viaducts, drainage structures and wildlife crossings, as well as the construction or reconstruction of around 30 km of roads. Following discussions with the five shortlisted bidders, CPK plans to select the contractor and sign the contract no later than Q4 2027.
Competitive dialogue is ongoing for the adjoining section between Kotowice and Airport Junction. CPK is also planning tenders for the four remaining sections, covering a combined 78 km: an 18-km stretch between Warszawa Zachodnia and Kotowice, including a tunnel; a 12-km section forming part of Bolimów Junction; a 37-km stretch from Bolimów Junction to Brzeziny; and an 11-km section connecting Brzeziny with Łódź. The Warsaw–Łódź section of Poland’s “Y” high-speed rail network, which will also serve the new airport, is expected to enter service in 2032. The wider network is planned to connect Warsaw and Łódź with Poznań and Wrocław by 2035.
