The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has extended the deadline for prospective bidders to submit their offers for the public-initiative PPP (Asociación Público-Privada) for the El Estanquillo–Popayán road corridor. The new deadline to present offers is 29 January 2026. This extension was made to ensure the plurality of interested bidders after requests from companies seeking more time to prepare their proposals.
The El Estanquillo–Popayán project aims to connect several southwestern departments of Colombia — Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Nariño, and Putumayo — with Ecuador and the rest of the country. The initiative includes major construction, operation, and maintenance works and is expected to attract interest from international companies. The total investment for the project (including capital and operational expenditures) is estimated at COP 8.82 billion (US$2.3 million). It is projected to generate more than 150,000 jobs during its construction phase and benefit nearly one million people through improved connectivity and reduced travel times.
The adjudication hearing for the project is scheduled for 5 March 2026, where submitted proposals will be evaluated and the winning bidder will be selected.
