The Almirante Padilla airport in the city of Riohacha in La Guajira, after signing a contractual modification with the ANI, started with improvements to the main building, expansion to the boarding hall and modernization of the infrastructure and equipment, which will allow an increase of 68% in operational capacity.
With a budget of COP 49,980 million (US$13 million) and a timeline of up to 2 years, the Government of Change has launched the expansion, adaptation and modernization of the Aeropuerto Almirante Padilla in Riohacha (La Guajira). Managed by concessionaire Aeropuertos de Oriente, the project will raise the terminal’s annual capacity from 628,000 to 1,000,000 national and international passengers — a contribution to the country’s economic recovery strategy via tourism and transport infrastructure transformation.
In addition to the facade change, the airport will expand the domestic and international boarding halls, baggage claim area, check-in areas, and commercial premises, and improve the air conditioning system in priority areas, which will allow for increased coverage of airport services, improving the experience and comfort of passengers.
