Lovell has signed a partnership agreement with Birmingham City Council to deliver the GBP1 billion (US$1.33 billion) regeneration of the Druid’s Heath estate.
About 3,500 homes are planned for Druid's Heath over the next 20 years, with 51% designated as affordable housing. Of the 1,785 affordable homes, 400 will be available for social rent.
Lovell’s previous regeneration work includes the Woolwich Estates project in London, which provided more than 1,500 homes along with wider neighbourhood upgrades, and the Compendium Living joint venture with Riverside, which has delivered major regeneration schemes across Liverpool and Derby over the past two decades. In Birmingham, the company has also played a long-term role in the Castle Vale regeneration programme, building new family homes there for more than 25 years.
The agreement between Birmingham City Council and Lovell places a strong emphasis on engaging with the Druid’s Heath community to ensure the regeneration reflects the needs of both existing and future residents. In addition to new homes, the plans include upgrades to transport connections, community amenities, commercial spaces and green areas. The council and Lovell will also start collaborating with residents on delivering early improvements before the project returns to the planning committee later in 2026.
