The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has launched the bidding process for a PHP690 million (US$12 million) rehabilitation project covering the stations and viaducts of LRT Line 1’s original stretch, from Baclaran to Fernando Poe Jr., formerly Roosevelt in the Philippines.
The program involves epoxy injection and patching works to repair structural cracks, which the agency considers essential to reduce safety risks and ensure the long-term reliability of the line. According to LRTA, the project is aligned with Executive Order 52 (2018), mandating government agencies to strengthen the resiliency of critical infrastructure. Separately, LRTA is preparing another PHP750 million (US$13 million) program to retrofit stations at EDSA and Monumento, further enhancing the durability of key transit facilities. These initiatives form part of broader efforts to modernise and future-proof Metro Manila’s oldest urban rail line.
The selected contractor will be required to begin work within seven days of receiving the notice to proceed and complete rehabilitation within 18 months. Bid submissions will close on October 15, 2025.
