The Odisha government has approved a major upgrade for Sriram Chandra Bhanja (SCB) Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack, India, by constructing a 17-storey high-rise building as part of a broader redevelopment plan to modernize the institution and improve services for patients and students. The parking facility will be used by patients and attendants coming to both SCB and Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital. The new structure, planned on 6.51 acres, will include a multi-level parking facility up to the 12th floor, with the upper levels housing administrative offices, academic departments, and pharmacy colleges for B Pharma and D Pharma courses, helping centralize key functions and ease congestion in the busy hospital area. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, boost medical education facilities, and provide better amenities—including indoor sports and a swimming pool under the National Education Policy’s recommendations—and is part of a larger vision to transform SCB into a world-class healthcare and educational hub.
