The Andhra Pradesh state municipal administration and urban development ministry has announced the completion timeline of the Vizag Metro feasibility study with a private agency in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.
A private agency is presently carrying out a study on the project, which is likely to be finished within two months. Once completed, the work will be accelerated to ensure the metro project is completed within three years. Additionally, plans are underway to construct a semi-ring road from Rambilli to Bhogapuram, on the lines of Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road.
The announcement was made during a regional workshop organised by HUDCO on the Urban Invest Window (UiWIN) initiative. UiWIN is a newly launched institutional mechanism aimed at helping cities and urban local bodies develop bankable, investment-ready infrastructure projects. It provides support in areas such as project identification, financing, DPR preparation, and public-private partnerships, thereby strengthening urban development capacity. The workshop saw participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including experts from national and international organisations such as NITI Aayog, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank, as well as representatives from financial institutions and banks. Over 150 officials from southern states and Puducherry attended, highlighting the collaborative effort to mobilise investments and improve urban infrastructure across the region.
