The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has received bids from Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd., PADECO Co., Ltd., and SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Pvt. Ltd. for the interim consultancy contract of Mumbai Metro Line 11 in Mumbai, India.
The interim consultant contract for the 18 km Mumbai Metro Line 11 (Green Line) involves a fully underground corridor connecting Anik Bus Depot to Gateway of India through 14 underground stations. The consultant, appointed for a short six-month period, will assist MMRC in initiating early project activities, including preparing tender documents for key consultancy packages that will remain in place throughout the project’s implementation phase.
Once completed, Mumbai Metro Line 11 is expected to become the third underground metro corridor in Mumbai, following Mumbai Metro Line 3 and Mumbai Metro Line 7A. Over the past year, MMRC has revised the alignment of Line-11 multiple times. In the latest plan, the number of underground stations has been reduced from 16 to 14, and the previously proposed stations at Crawford Market and Coal Bunder have been removed from the project. The current plan includes 14 stations at Anik Bus Depot, Wadala Depot, CGS Colony, Ganesh Nagar, BPT Hospital, Sewri, Hay Bunder, Darukhana, Byculla, Nagpada Junction, Bhendi Junction, CSMT Metro (interchange with Aqua Line / Line-3), Horniman Circle, and Gateway of India.
The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation, which can take a couple of months to complete. When completed, the financial bids of the technically-qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who is the lowest bidder and most likely Interim Consultant.
