The Cambridge Growth Company (CGC) has appointed Buro Happold, Prior + Partners and other technical experts to develop a growth strategy for Greater Cambridge.

The CGC will collaborate closely with locally elected officials and the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The Local Plan is currently being prepared by the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service, which serves both the Cambridge City Council and the South Cambridgeshire District Council. Work has already begun on building the evidence base, which is the first step toward shaping a long-term vision for Greater Cambridge that prioritizes sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation. This foundation will draw on data related to the knowledge economy, infrastructure, housing, jobs, transport, and the natural environment, helping to identify key challenges and opportunities. It will inform policy-making and guide the future spatial strategy, with particular attention given to tackling transport congestion and water shortages.

Buro Happold, a globally renowned consultancy, provides integrated expertise in strategic planning, economics, infrastructure, engineering, design, environmental sustainability, and advisory services. The firm is leading the team responsible for developing the evidence base, overall strategy, and implementation plan.

Prior + Partners is a leading consultancy in urban planning, masterplanning, and economic development, recognized for its contributions to large-scale regeneration and urban growth initiatives. Their expertise in spatial strategy, placemaking, data analysis, and policy guidance will play a key role in tailoring the evidence base to reflect Greater Cambridge’s specific context, helping to ensure growth is both well-managed and inclusive. They will work alongside a multidisciplinary team bringing technical skills and local insight, including BNP Paribas Real Estate, CBA, LUC, Peter Studdert, Turner & Townsend, and Womble Bond Dickinson.
