Trichy Corporation has proposed a ₹40 crore (US$4.2 million) multi-level car parking facility under the PPP model, with the proposal submitted to the Tamil Nadu government for approval, near the Rajagopuram of the Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Trichy.

The project is intended primarily to address parking problems faced by devotees visiting the temple and is proposed to be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model on corporation-owned land. The proposed site is located near the Rajagopuram, around 250 feet from the temple complex and adjacent to a police station. The corporation has surveyed a site of approximately 10,000 sq ft. The planned facility would comprise two floors above a basement. The ground, first and second floors are each expected to accommodate 25 cars, providing parking for 75 cars in total. The basement would have capacity for approximately 120 two-wheelers.

However, the proposed site presents certain technical challenges because it falls within a height-restriction zone near the Rajagopuram. Building height is reportedly limited to nine metres, making it difficult to design the required driveway and setback areas. The corporation has nevertheless submitted its report to the state government for the necessary approvals, with a decision expected shortly. Other potential parking locations are available near Amma Mandapam on the Cauvery riverbank and Yatri Nivas on the Kollidam riverbank. However, these locations would require battery-operated vehicles to transport devotees between the parking areas and the temple. The proposed MLCP near Rajagopuram could therefore provide a more convenient parking option if the project receives approval and is successfully implemented.
