The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved a long-term lease of SevenHills Hospital to Capri Global Ventures Pvt Ltd for the revival and redevelopment of the facility in Marol, Andheri East, Mumbai, India.
The ruling panel approved the proposal to lease the expansive SevenHills Hospital campus to Capri Global Ventures Private Limited despite strong opposition from members of the opposition. The move is aimed at reviving the major healthcare facility after years of inactivity. The resolution also paves the way for a comprehensive PPP model to restore tertiary healthcare services in Mumbai. The approved resolution provides for a new lease agreement with SevenHills Healthcare Private Limited under the ownership of Capri Global. The arrangement grants the company a 30-year lease for approximately 66,688 sq m of municipal land in Marol, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional 30 years, subject to applicable regulatory conditions. Under the proposed structure, Capri Global will also receive equity support from Reliance Foundation, which operates Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaum.
The project is intended to redevelop the facility into a 1,500-bed not-for-profit tertiary-care hospital, while retaining key conditions stipulated under earlier agreements. As part of the arrangement, 20% of the hospital’s operational beds, or 300 beds, will be reserved for patients referred by civic hospitals. In addition, 20% of outpatient department services will be allocated to municipal patients, who will be able to access consultations, diagnostic services and essential medicines at subsidised civic rates. The revised lease agreement also sets out strict operational requirements to ensure compliance across the hospital’s clinical departments.
