Plenary, in partnership with the University of Staffordshire and HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions, has delivered the £100 million (US$134 million) Student Village in collaboration with Willmott Dixon at the university’s Leek Road campus in Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
The Student Village was developed under the Staffordshire Campus Living partnership involving the University of Staffordshire, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions and Plenary, with Willmott Dixon responsible for construction. Its opening follows the University’s recognition as Modern University of the Year 2027 in the Daily Mail University Guide, which highlighted the Student Village, the institution’s improved league-table position and strong graduate employability results as factors behind the award.
Linked to the University’s main Leek Road campus by a new pedestrian bridge, the Student Village offers 1,000 new and refurbished bedrooms across contemporary cluster blocks and townhouses, providing a modern residential environment for students.
A new Village Hub forms the centrepiece of the development, bringing together study areas, social spaces and wellbeing facilities. The facility includes dedicated quiet areas for study as well as communal spaces designed to encourage interaction, connection and a sense of community among students. The Student Village will bring around 1,000 students to live, study and spend time in central Stoke-on-Trent, contributing a major new asset to the city. It forms part of a wider programme of regeneration underway across Stoke-on-Trent, alongside projects such as the £60 million Goods Yard development, the redevelopment of the historic Spode Works, and the £29 million railway station and gateway programme, supported by the Transforming Cities Fund.
Designed by architects Corstorphine & Wright, the development was constructed by Hertfordshire-based Willmott Dixon, while Pinnacle Group is responsible for operating the accommodation in partnership with the University.
