UNM Foundation, in partnership with the Gujarat government, is developing an 800-bed hospital and 150-seat medical college at Vyara in Tapi district, Gujarat, under a 33-year PPP concession.

The Gujarat government will inaugurate the redeveloped 317-bed UNM General Hospital in Vyara, Tapi district, as part of efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure in South Gujarat. It will also lay the foundation stone for a new 800-bed UNM hospital and medical college on the same campus. The redeveloped 317-bed facility will function as a transitional hospital until the proposed 800-bed hospital and medical college are completed. The existing hospital building, which has been operational since 1983, is being redeveloped as part of the larger healthcare infrastructure project.

The redeveloped hospital has 383 rooms spread across 9,986 sq m of carpet area, including 217 ward beds and 46 critical-care beds. It will have 24 dedicated OPD rooms covering 17 clinical specialities and is designed to cater to around 1,200 patients a day. The facility will also have four operation theatres and a post-mortem facility. Critical-care infrastructure includes 34 ICU beds, 12 NICU/PICU beds and six emergency beds. Other facilities include an eight-bed dialysis unit, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), Kangaroo Mother Care room and Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) ward, along with new-generation biomedical equipment. 

The proposed 800-bed hospital and medical college will include 150 MBBS seats and an attached hostel facility. The project is being implemented under a 33-year PPP concession agreement between the Gujarat government and the Torrent Group’s UNM Foundation.
