The Bihar government has proposed the development of three four-lane riverfront expressways, through the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC), along the Ganga and Gandak river corridors across districts including Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Vaishali and Gopalganj in Bihar, India.

The project proposes the development of three new four-lane riverfront expressways spanning a combined 220 km along the Ganga and Gandak rivers in Bihar. The first corridor, Vishwamitra Path, will cover about 90 km from Maner near Patna to Buxar via Arrah and is expected to strengthen connectivity with Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal Expressway, significantly improving travel between Bihar and Delhi. The second corridor, Ganga Ambika Path, is planned as a 56-km route connecting Bidupur, Sonepur and Dighwara, enhancing transportation links within the Patna metropolitan region. The third corridor, Narayani Path, will extend approximately 74 km from Sonepur to Gopalganj along the Gandak River, providing a crucial link between northern Bihar and the East–West Corridor.

The three proposed expressways will link key districts in Bihar with major national transportation networks, enhancing regional and interstate connectivity. Upon completion, the corridors are expected to provide seamless access to Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal Expressway and the East–West Corridor, reducing travel times to important economic hubs such as Lucknow, Delhi and other commercial centres. The BSRDC has initiated preliminary work on the project, including the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs), land acquisition assessments and the required statutory clearances.
