The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of Chile has received four technical and economic bids from Vías Chile SA, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltda, Sacyr Concesiones Chile SpA, and Strabag Infrastructure Chile SpA Consortium for the second concession of Route 57 Santiago–Colina–Los Andes in Chile. 

The project aims to comprehensively upgrade the route linking Chile’s Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions, while strengthening a key national and international transport corridor, particularly for freight and passenger traffic between Chile and Argentina. The concession is developed across the Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions, encompassing the communes of Quilicura and Huechuraba, in the province of Santiago; Colina and Tiltil, in the province of Chacabuco; and Rinconada, Calle Larga and Los Andes, in the province of the same name.

In total, the project considers approximately 110.4 km of road infrastructure, including the existing Route 57 (79.8 km), Route G-71 (16.7 km), a new 9.3-km route that will directly connect Route 57 with Route 5, and a new 4.6-km connection in the Los Andes Land Port area, intended to optimize the logistics operation of the area.

The Second Concession Route 57 Santiago – Colina – Los Andes includes the improvement, construction, maintenance and operation of both the existing infrastructure and the new works incorporated into the project. Key improvements include the expansion to three lanes along the first 24 km of Route 57, significantly enhancing service levels and road capacity. Additionally, cross-city connectivity will be strengthened, particularly in the urban area of ​​the Metropolitan Region, through new interchanges and crossings, new service roads, and improvements to existing ones.

The project also includes the construction of new bridges, bike paths, pedestrian walkways with associated bus stops, as well as a new tunnel parallel to the existing Chacabuco Tunnel and the modernization of existing infrastructure. In addition, there is a new general services area in Los Andes, a plaza in Huechuraba (at the new "El Molino" crossing), improvements to existing links and structures, the opening of a new connection axis with Route 5, the improvement of Route G-71 and the construction of the new Los Andes Oriente Route.

The opening of the financial bids is scheduled for September 4, 2026, a step that will allow progress toward awarding the project during Q4 of 2026. According to the projected timeline, the start of the new works is estimated for 2031, while full commissioning is expected in 2035. The current concession will end on January 8, 2027.
