The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has re-floated tenders for the third time to invite private agencies to develop and operate a modern truck terminus on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis at its existing 30-acre facility in Adgaon on the outskirts of Nashik, Maharashtra, India.
The proposed truck terminus project, with an estimated cost exceeding INR1.50 billion (US$16 million), is planned across 30 acres of municipally owned land at the existing old truck terminus in Adgaon on the outskirts of Nashik. Envisioned as a modern facility, it is intended to be delivered through a private sector partner. After receiving limited interest from developers, the municipal corporation has issued the tender for a third time. The deadline for bid submissions is February 11, 2026, and a pre-bid meeting was conducted online on January 29. The selected contractor will be responsible for operating and maintaining the facility over a 30-year concession term, which includes a two-year construction phase, after which the project will be transferred back to the municipal authority in accordance with the terms of the concession agreement.
Covering 30 acres, the proposed terminus is intended to upgrade the current site into a modern logistics centre that meets the expanding requirements of transporters and freight operators. The initiative is being advanced for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, when a significant rise in vehicle traffic is anticipated, increasing the need for improved transport infrastructure. The project will be implemented under a design–develop–finance–operate–maintain (DBFOM) model, with the selected agency responsible for creating supporting amenities for truck drivers to enhance comfort and services. The plan also includes dedicated parking capacity for around 300 trucks. In addition, the developer will be permitted to set up and run commercial amenities such as storage spaces for loading and unloading goods to help reduce congestion in the city and along approach roads, as well as facilities like weighbridges, truck repair workshops, retail units, transport offices, showrooms, motels, and hotels. About 15% of the total site area will be developed as landscaped green space.
