The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), and the Municipality of Mala have inaugurated the Bujama Interchange at 90 km of the Pan-American Highway South.

With an investment of PEN 39 million (US$11.4 million), this important project upgrades one of the country’s busiest road sections, long known for frequent traffic accidents. The new interchange enables smoother and more efficient traffic flow along the Pan-American Highway South, easing congestion and shortening travel times, particularly during peak periods.

Executed by COVIPERU, the project elevates the Pan-American Highway South with two 20.50-meter bridges, providing 5.80 meters of clearance for traffic below, thus enabling safer and less congested traffic flow. It also incorporates pedestrian walkways and bike paths, ensuring accessible mobility for pedestrians and cyclists. This project is part of a package of 21 interventions being carried out on National Highway Network No. 6, aimed at reducing congestion and ensuring efficient travel on one of the country's most important arteries.
