PROINVERSIÓN has promoted the US$844 million Corío port project in collaboration with the Regional Government of Arequipa in southern Peru.

The Corío Port Terminal project in Arequipa, Peru, entails an estimated investment of US$844.48 million across three phases, with the objective of establishing southern Peru as a major logistics, industrial and commercial hub connecting Brazil and Bolivia with Asia-Pacific markets. The first phase is expected to attract US$651.98 million in investment and will be supported by a Logistics City spanning more than 34,000 hectares, featuring distribution centres, storage facilities, industrial parks, and infrastructure for processing and value-added activities. The second phase is expected to involve an initial investment of US$109.25 million to develop a second bulk cargo berth, storage facilities, and rail infrastructure. The third phase envisages a further investment of US$83.25 million for a third specialised berth and associated equipment. According to the Master Plan, the port will operate as a multipurpose terminal primarily handling clean solid bulk cargo, while also accommodating general cargo and containers. Under the optimistic projections, annual cargo throughput could reach up to 932,000 tonnes of general cargo and 19 million tonnes of bulk cargo by the 30th year of operation.

During the event, PROINVERSIÓN and the Regional Government of Arequipa signed an Interinstitutional Collaboration Agreement to support the promotion of Corío Port City as a strategic destination for domestic and international investment. The agreement aims to raise awareness of the project and attract investor interest across a range of sectors, including logistics, port operations, manufacturing, industry, commerce, services, urban development, and infrastructure. The Corío Port Terminal Master Plan received approval from the National Port Authority in September 2026. Moving forward, PROINVERSIÓN intends to facilitate public-private partnerships and mobilise the investment required to advance the project's phased development and strengthen its surrounding logistics ecosystem.
