The Government of São Paulo published the public notice for the concession of the Paranapanema Lot in the State Official Gazette.
The initiative spans 285 km of highways and entails a projected investment of BRL 5.8 billion (US$ 1 billion). It underscores the State’s dedication to upgrading transportation infrastructure and enhancing road safety. A significant enhancement in the project involves expanding its scope to incorporate additional highway stretches and infrastructure elements. Planned improvements feature road widening, new access routes, pedestrian bridges, frontage roads, and grade-separated interchanges—all designed to boost safety and better serve local communities. Furthermore, the placement of toll gantries has been adjusted to reduce impact and promote more equitable pricing based on the actual distance traveled.
With the release of the public notice, the Paranapanema Lot progresses to the auction stage, set for the second half of 2025. The 30-year concession is designed to attract private investment for the operation, upkeep, and expansion of the highway system. It will follow a sponsored concession model, involving roads currently managed by the São Paulo State Department of Highways (DER-SP) and regulated by ARTESP. This initiative is part of the São Paulo State Investment Partnership Program (PPI-SP), which seeks to enhance public services, generate employment, and stimulate economic growth in the affected regions.
