The Chilean public works ministry (MOP) has announced that Construction of a US$ 250 million bridge over Chile's Biobío river is 93% complete and full operations are expected to start during Q4 of 2025, over four years after works began.
A trial run for the project is anticipated in Q3, though an exact date has yet to be set, as it depends on completing two access roads connecting the bridge to Route 160 and the Costanera highways. The concession, managed by Aleática, includes the construction and operation of the 2.5 km Puente Industrial bridge, along with 3.9 km of access roads split into two sections. The first segment is a 1.84 km connection to the Costanera road, linking Concepción, Hualpén, and Talcahuano, and was 87% finished as of April 2025. The second segment, a 2.06 km stretch connecting the bridge’s southern end to Route 160, was 73% complete.
