The Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) has received Technical and Economic Bids for the Public Transportation Corridors project, Route 150 and Concepción-Talcahuano Highway Section II, which involves an investment of USD 172 million for the development of bidirectional public transportation corridors located in the province of Concepción, Biobío Region, Chile.
The initiative, which has a 9 km length, crosses the communes of Penco, Talcahuano, Hualpén and Concepción and includes two-way bike paths and pedestrian walkways on both sides, contributing to a safer and more modern infrastructure. The project includes 6.7 km on Route 150 and 2.6 km on the Concepción-Talcahuano Highway, Section II, with bus stops in the medians separating the bus lanes from the outer lanes for private vehicles. In addition, it incorporates bus stops, sidewalks and bike paths, service roads, traffic lights, road safety features, variable message signs, lighting, a control center, and railroad crossings. On Route 150, the crossings will be regulated, a grade-separated crossing will be enabled at the entrance to the Cosmito sector, while on the Concepción-Talcahuano Highway, the roadways in front of the El Trébol Mall will be buried and the connections with the O'Higgins, Av. Alessandri and Paicaví-Alonso de Ribera links will be redesigned.
