Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has been awarded a 30-year PPP concession by Paradip Port authorities to develop and operate the CQ-I and CQ-II dry bulk berths at Paradip Port in Odisha, adding 18 MMTPA of cargo-handling capacity.

The project involves the development and operation of two dry bulk berths at Paradip Port in Odisha, which will add 18 million tonnes per annum (MMTPA) to APSEZ’s cargo-handling capacity. APSEZ has received the Letter of Award for the CQ-I and CQ-II berths, which will be developed and operated under a 30-year concession through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The additional capacity will increase APSEZ’s overall cargo-handling capacity from 653 MMTPA to 671 MMTPA. As part of the project, APSEZ will establish mechanised cargo-handling systems, deep-draft berths and storage facilities at the terminal.

The Paradip project represents APSEZ’s entry into Odisha’s largest port and India’s second-largest major port. Paradip serves as a major gateway for bulk cargo and provides access to a mineral-rich hinterland that includes key steel and industrial clusters. The additional capacity will enable APSEZ to handle higher volumes of coal, limestone and other dry bulk commodities while strengthening its connectivity to industrial centres across eastern and central India. APSEZ already has approximately 140 MMT of cargo-handling capacity along the eastern coast through its facilities at Haldia, Dhamra, Gopalpur and Gangavaram.
