The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC), under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, has completed 86% of the LED Street Light Replacement Project across its jurisdiction in North Bengaluru by replacing conventional streetlights with energy-efficient LED streetlights and installing supporting smart lighting infrastructure.

The installation of the Centralized Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) switches is currently underway to enable efficient monitoring and management of the street lighting network. Of the approximately 1.2 lakh streetlights within the BNCC limits, 59,693 were already LED fixtures, while 64,632 were conventional streetlights. To date, 68,907 LED streetlights have been installed, including 14,576 lights fitted on previously vacant poles.

To improve lighting in inadequately illuminated areas, the corporation has planned the installation of new streetlight poles, underground cables, and aerial bunched (AB) cables, based on public feedback and field inspections. Under the proposed works, Yelahanka and Byatarayanapura constituencies will receive 1,313 new streetlight poles and 63.6 km of cable network at an estimated cost of ₹5.5 crore (US$0.6 million). Similarly, Hebbal, Pulikeshinagar, and Sarvagnanagar constituencies are slated for the installation of 1,601 streetlight poles and 46.6 km of cable network, with an estimated investment of over ₹3.1 crore (US$0.32 million).
