The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has approved the development of a 100-metre skywalk with lifts near LuLu Mall on Amar Shaheed Path (NH-27), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, under the Design–Build–Operate–Transfer (DBOT) model, to be implemented through a selected private concessionaire.
The project, estimated to cost approximately ₹18 crore (US$2 million), will be executed under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, with the private concessionaire financing the entire development. The proposed 5-metre-wide skywalk will feature lifts and staircases to provide safe and convenient access for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, women, and other pedestrians. The project plan was finalized following consultations with the Public Works Department (PWD), the traffic police, LESA, and the LuLu Mall management to ensure coordinated planning and implementation.
The project also includes the development of approximately 1,200 square metres of landscaped green space beneath the skywalk, complemented by kiosks, public gathering areas, restroom facilities, and designated parking. In addition, commercial spaces are planned on the ground and first floors, while the rooftop is proposed to accommodate an open-air restaurant and LED display screens. To ensure safety and durability, the skywalk will be equipped with anti-skid flooring, CCTV surveillance, adequate lighting, fire protection systems, and earthquake-resistant structural features.
