Brazil's National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) approved on December 19, 2025, the opening of a second public consultation and hearing to gather further contributions for refining the technical and legal documents related to the leasing of area SSB01 at the Organized Port of São Sebastião in São Paulo state, Brazil.
This follows revisions from a previous consultation period (September 30 to December 13, 2024), which led to key updates such as expanding containerized cargo handling capabilities, increasing the leased area to 261.941 m², and raising mandatory investment thresholds. The new consultation invites public input from December 29, 2025, to January 27, 2026, with submissions required exclusively via ANTAQ's electronic form; supporting digital attachments (e.g., maps, plans, photos) can be emailed separately. An in-person or virtual hearing date will be announced later. The 35-year lease aims to enhance handling of solid bulk, general cargo, and containers, with earlier estimates suggesting around R$660 million (US$118.6 million) in investments to boost port capacity and efficiency.
