The WSP–INECO consortium received the highest technical and economic evaluation for the award of the comprehensive study contract for the proposed Valparaíso–Santiago railway line, according to Chile’s Directorate of Concessions under the Ministry of Public Works (MOP).
The other companies participating in the bidding process for the study were Consorcio Consultrans – PINI –Sustentable; Consorcio Idom-Systra; Consorcio Meta-WBI–Quadrante; China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group CO. LTD.; Técnica y Proyectos SA Agency in Chile; and Peyco Agency Chile.
The initial phase of the train project includes a budget of US$ 1,320 million for the Quinta Normal-El Salto section, allowing for the reactivation of passenger rail service with a gradual approach, responding to the consolidation of demand and integration with the national rail system.
