Forescout Technologies, Inc. is partnering with the White House, the State of Texas, water utilities and technology providers under Project Watershed 250 to strengthen the cybersecurity of water and wastewater infrastructure. As part of the initiative, Forescout will provide participating utilities with continuous monitoring and asset visibility, adversary-focused assessments, vulnerability prioritization and remediation workflows, network segmentation, and AI-enabled defense capabilities.
The initiative uses a lifecycle-based approach to cyber-risk reduction, enabling utilities to understand their cyber environment, identify exposed assets and vulnerabilities, validate potential attack paths, prioritize remediation and enforce containment measures. It is designed specifically for water utilities' cyber-physical environments, including IT networks, operational technology, industrial control systems, SCADA systems, treatment facilities, pump stations and remote telemetry.
Project Watershed 250 is a six-month Texas pilot intended to provide cybersecurity resources to under-resourced water systems and develop a model that could potentially be expanded to other states and critical infrastructure sectors.
