The Peruvian investment promotion agency (ProInversión), together with the Regional Government of Puno and the Municipal Provincial of San Román, has signed a cooperation agreement to advance the Puerto Seco del Sur project, a multimodal logistics platform planned for 52 hectares of municipal land in Puno. The initiative aims to design and promote this dry port so that the region can become a strategic international logistics hub in southern Peru. Local authorities believe Puno’s geographic position allows freight coming from inland to be efficiently routed toward major Pacific ports like Matarani, Ilo, Tacna, or Corío, and further to international markets, as well as to Brazil and Bolivia. In addition to land for cargo handling, the hub will provide services such as reception, storage, consolidation, and intermodal transfer of goods, helping organize cargo movement and optimize logistics operations across the region. 

ProInversión will lead the preparation of the necessary studies and provide technical support throughout the project’s formulation, structuring, and transaction phases under a framework that promotes private investment. The agreement also aligns with Peru’s broader investment promotion policies aimed at building more efficient supply chains and unlocking economic opportunities in inland regions.
