PROINVERSIÓN has assumed ownership and management of two water supply and wastewater treatment projects from the Provincial Municipality of Cajamarca in Cajamarca, Peru.

The ownership transfer was formalized through a delegation of powers agreement between PROINVERSIÓN and the Provincial Municipality of Cajamarca, under which the Agency will take responsibility for both projects, including their administration and management across the execution, transaction, and contractual implementation phases. The Cajamarca Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR Cajamarca) project is currently in the transaction phase, with two pre-qualified bidders and an expected award in June 2026. The project involves an estimated investment of US$180 million and will treat the city’s wastewater in compliance with established quality standards, benefiting more than 365,000 residents in Cajamarca and three communities in the Baños del Inca district. Its development will reduce pollution in the Mashcón and Cajamarquino rivers, strengthen the sanitary conditions of the population, and open opportunities for the reuse of treated water. 

This initiative is complemented by the Cajamarca Water Treatment Plant (PTAP Cajamarca) project, which will enhance and expand potable water services for more than 370,000 residents in urban Cajamarca and nearby areas. The project will strengthen service continuity, coverage, and quality delivered by the utility EPS Sedacaj, and involves an estimated investment of PEN1.838 billion (US$534 million), including key infrastructure such as storage dams, treatment plants, reservoirs, and pipelines.
