The Metro de Bogotá Company has reopened the prequalification process for international companies to participate in the US$9.3 billion Bogotá Metro Line 2 project in Bogotá, Colombia.
Line 2 includes 15.5 km of length that will connect the districts of Chapinero, Barrios Unidos, Engativá and Suba. The route will include 10 underground stations and one elevated station, with integration into the integrated public transport system, and it will connect with five TransMilenio trunk lines and Line 1 of the Bogotá Metro. The project was structured with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).
Metro de Bogotá has called on interested companies to submit prequalification applications by June 5, 2026, for an international public tender covering the construction, operation and maintenance of Bogotá Metro Line 2, a major initiative aimed at expanding the mass transit network in Bogotá, Colombia. The project carries an estimated investment of COP34.9 trillion (US$9.3 billion), with the contract expected to be awarded in Q1 of 2027. The companies that are prequalified will move on to the second phase of the tender process, in which they must submit their bids.
