Four consortiums submitted proposals to carry out the studies related to the expansion project of Line 17 of the São Paulo metro, which is expected to include the construction of four new stations.
The consortia that submitted proposals were: Linha 17-Monotrilho Designer Consortium, formed by the companies ARX Brasil, Themag Engenharia, Metroeng Engenharia, Architect Pedro Taddei e Associados and Ettec Consultoria Especializada em Engenharia de Mobilidade, with a value of BRL48.98 million (US$9.6 million); Hidroconsult-Agência E-Bonin Consortium, with a value of BRL63.58 million; and Egis-Sener-Setec-EGT Consortium, with a bid of BRL71.3 million. Finally, the IMNP 17 Consortium, composed of the companies Intertechne Consultores S.A., Maubertec Tecnologia em Engenharia, Nova Engenharia S.A., and Pólux Engenharia, also submitted a proposal, offering a price of BRL 91.3 million.
The project consists of a monorail that will serve as Line 17 of the city's metro system. The line will have stations and has a projected daily passenger demand of approximately 230,000. Construction of the project will be carried out in three phases. The contract also includes the supply of systems and rolling stock, with a total of 14 trains to operate the line. The monorail line will extend from Congonhas Airport to Line 9 of the urban rail network, in the Morumbi neighborhood of São Paulo, and will have the following stations: Morumbi Chucri Zaidan Vila Cordeiro Campo Belo Farmer José Diniz Brooklyn Paulista Congonhas Airport Washington Luis The new line will be 6.7 km long and will connect to Metro Line 5-Lilac at the Campo Belo station, as well as to Line 9-Esmeralda via the Morumbi station, located on the Marginal do Pinheiros. The route is estimated to serve around 100,000 passengers daily. The concession contract will have a duration of 30 years.
The metro authority will now undertake a technical assessment of the submitted proposals, with the evaluation results expected to be released in the second half of August 2026. Following the completion of the studies, the state government intends to launch the construction tender in 2028. Construction is planned to commence in 2029, with the expanded section targeted for completion by 2032.
