PROINVERSIÓN, together with the Regional Government of Puno, the Provincial Municipality of San Román, and the National University of Juliaca, unveiled the Southern Logistics Route anchored by Peru's first dry port (Puerto Seco del Sur) during an international forum in Juliaca, Puno, Peru.
PROINVERSIÓN has unveiled a strategy to establish the Southern Logistics Route (Eje Sur) as Peru's new logistics integration corridor, backed by a portfolio of 22 public-private partnership (PPP) projects valued at more than US$10 billion. The flagship initiative is the Puerto Seco del Sur (Southern Dry Port), the country's first multimodal inland logistics platform, to be developed on a 52-hectare site in Juliaca, Puno, through the Projects in Assets mechanism. The dry port is designed to reduce logistics costs and transit times, improve access to international markets for regional producers, and strengthen trade with Brazil, Bolivia, and Asia-Pacific markets. Announced during the International Forum on the Southern Logistics Corridor and San Román Dry Port in Juliaca, the initiative aims to leverage the Southern Corridor—which accounts for more than 44% of Peru's exports—to enhance regional connectivity, attract private investment, generate employment, and position southern Peru as a strategic trade gateway between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Initial technical studies for the project are expected to begin soon, with preliminary investment estimated at US$150–250 million for the dry port itself.
