Joinville Plans US$780 Million PPP for 27 New Schools in Brazil

The Municipality of Joinville is developing a 25-year public-private partnership with a private-sector partner to build and maintain 27 new school units in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil, under an estimated (R$4 billion) US$780 million contract. 

The contract covers the development of 27 new school facilities, comprising 16 early-childhood education centers and 11 elementary schools along with preventive and corrective maintenance of the buildings, furniture and equipment. The private partner will also manage a range of non-educational services, including cleaning, pest control, solid waste disposal, landscaping and green-area maintenance, property security, school catering and utility payments across all facilities. The concession is planned to run for 25 years.
