MATARAT Holding, in collaboration with the National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP), has announced the qualification of six consortia and companies for the development of the Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz International Airport PPP Project in Qassim, Saudi Arabia.

The project is located 25km from Buraidah in the Qassim region. Moreover, it is planned under a 30-year contract period, including the construction phase, and is aimed at enhancing the airport’s infrastructure, operational efficiency and passenger services.

The bidder pool includes a mix of leading Saudi and international airport operators, infrastructure developers, investment firms and engineering companies. GMR Airports, the Indian airport operator, has qualified as a standalone bidder for the Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz International Airport project. The other qualified bidders include a consortium of Egis, YDA, Safari and Lamar Holding; a consortium comprising Ports Projects Management & Development Company and Al Gihaz Holding; a consortium of Tamasuk, Oman Airports, Namaya and Al Bawani Capital; a consortium comprising Vision Invest, Asyad and daa International, which combines Saudi investment capabilities with regional logistics expertise and international airport management experience; and a consortium of TAV Airports, a member of Groupe ADP, and Mada International Holding.

The winning bidder will be responsible for the airport’s design, financing, construction, transfer, operation and maintenance under the project agreement. The development will comprise a passenger terminal and associated airport facilities, along with improvements to critical airside infrastructure such as the runway, taxiways and aircraft aprons. The project is intended to increase airport capacity, enhance operational efficiency and improve passenger services while accommodating future growth in aviation demand across the Qassim region.
